Now I know my ABC’s

The enigmatic, shadowy blogger known as Stacia (she blogs…by night!) has a meme up at her crib asking folks to name their favorite films that correspond with the 26 letters of the alphabet. (Apparently this originated with Fletch at Blog Cabins, a spirited young movie maven who would appear to have almost as much free time as your humble narrator.)

I don’t mind telling you—this ain’t easy. With this cursed Shrevian luck of mine, both Casablanca and Citizen Kane would have to start with the letter “C.” But I finally managed to cobble together a list—the only cheat being my choice for “X” (because, quite frankly people, X: the Man with the X-Ray Eyes is not a movie I go back to for repeated viewings—and besides, if Fletch got to cheat on his list I don’t see why I can’t follow suit). Feel free to submit your cherces in the comments section or if you suddenly find yourself with a blog, post it there and I’ll drop a link off to Stacia. (You can check out hers or Matt Barry’s if you need some inspiration.)

C seems to be the best letter as it also gives us City Lights and Chinatown.

My choice for M would be M (Fritz Lang) but Ambersons is very close. I find it warmer than Kane, and also in a way more purely cinematic, because the film technique is blended into the narrative more smoothly whereas it Kane it can distract.

For Z, how about Zelig?
