“Oh, deputy…dep-u-tee…”

A couple of quick TV-on-DVD announcements, courtesy of

With Shout! Factory having released Adam-12: Season 4 in February, speculation as to when Season 5 will be made available is currently a-buzz…and TVShows’ David Lambert reports that Factory DVD producer Brian Ward has hinted around that fans should look for Season 5 in August. Adam-12 aficionados are no doubt aware that the crime drama warhorse ran for a total of seven seasons from 1968 to 1975, so it looks as if it may go the distance on disc.

TSOD also has interesting news about an upcoming Timeless Media Group release entitled TV Western Classics, a six-disc set that will contain thirty-one episodes of rare cathode ray tube oaters like The Deputy, The Tall Man, Cimarron City, The Restless Gun, Frontier Doctor and Shotgun Slade. The street date on this collection is May 25th, and though there’s no news about the set (as of this writing) on Timeless’ website I have a sneaking suspicion that the content on Classics will be episodes that have been previously released (all six series on the set have seen individual DVD releases). Make of this what you will.
