Fogged over Frisco

I was perusing a list of upcoming DVD releases over at TVShowsOnDVD.com and this one happened to catch my eye—neither Messrs. Lambert nor Lacey have done a write-up on it, so either they haven’t gotten around to it yet …or perhaps they’ve said all they can about the show. (Update: Here's the skinny at TSOD.)

Faithful Thrilling Days of Yesteryear followers are no doubt aware that I’ve had something to say about Checkmate in the past, both at Salon Blogs and this post from June 2008. To see this unique series—a true cult classic and a show that was way before its time—being offered in its entirety from Timeless Media Group on June 22nd just tickles me pink; the company has released the show in two earlier “Best of” collections in October 2007 and March 2008.

I purchased all sixty episodes of Checkmate via “root peg” a few years back…but I may have to replace those shows with this collection.

I'm totally stealing the phrase "root peg." So far, I have replaced all my root pegs with official releases when available, but that so rarely happens. I'm going to check "Checkmate" out if I get a chance, you have me very intrigued.

Moi aussi. But I don't have any allegiance to any particular merchant--I usually just check the prices at www.dvdpricesearch.com and see who can offer me the best deal.
