The ...Cynthia, welcome aboard...great to have you. The Dick Van Dyke Show blogathon will commence on October 3rd, the 50th anniversary of the show's TV premiere--and if you want to participate, all you have to do is have an essay or post ready on that date, then send a link to that post to me either by e-mail at igsjrotr(at)gmail(dot)com or in the comments section of the post I will put up that same day with a list of the people participating and their links.

As to what you want to write about--it's entirely up to you. Many people have called dibs on certain episodes of the show, and while I won't discourage you if you want to take an episode someone's already claimed be forewarned that we will talk about you behind your back when you leave the room. (No, I'm just kidding about that.) You can also write an overview of the series, a piece on one of the show's cast or a movie they appeared in...the sky is the limit. Again, I am enthusiastic about your participation!

Oh, and I must beg forgiveness from Millie because I forgot to thank her for signing on, too. I'm spending part of my vacation watching the DVD series to gather enough info to compile a chronology for the show. And I plan to add blog posts about my favorite guest star (Lennie Weinrib) - which means I'll be putting the spotlight on "Buddy can you spare a job?", "Sam Pomerantz Scandals" + a third one about Buddy's practical joke - and one about the big picture re: Allan Melvin's contribution to the show.Toby O'Bhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06999037844031101965noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7307577717655310918.post-14054223717420204642011-08-22T20:06:38.272-04:002011-08-22T20:06:38.272-04:00It took me awhile, but I think I have something I ...It took me awhile, but I think I have something I can contribute to this blogathon: I would like to write about the DVD movie "Cold Turkey," which I will tie to the Season 5 episode "Buddy Sorrell, Man and Boy" because Pippa Scott appears in both of them. I had planned to watch the movie for a few weeks now but had to constantly re-schedule it in favor of other movies, so I'm glad to find a greater use for it.Richhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11376065182154885503noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7307577717655310918.post-3866439888725896112011-08-20T05:33:00.042-04:002011-08-20T05:33:00.042-04:00Include me in, albeit tentatively. I haven't got a subject yet - and I can't watch old episodes on Hulu (damn you US-Canada Border!!) - but it was and remains one of my favourite series ever. The biggest part of tentatively though is whether I can survive the blizzard of mediocrity that promises to be the debut of the new shows this year. Still that should surely make remembering The Dick Van Dyke Show more of a joy (or incite nearly suicidal depression when I realize that things will never be that good again).Brent McKeehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14883838112004433045noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7307577717655310918.post-42964111304223356582011-08-19T12:24:29.569-04:002011-08-19T12:24:29.569-04:00Half of TeamBartilucci rapped on the podium to qui...Half of TeamBartilucci rapped on the podium to quiet everyone down:

So I'll do the next best thing and go with "Uhny Uftz", where Rob sees a flying saucer from the window of his office.

Welcome aboard!
