That’s what I like about the South

Profuse apologies for the delay in announcing the two winners in Thrilling Days of Yesteryear’s Phil Harris and Alice Faye Private Lives giveaway, but I have been up to my arse in alligators all morning.  I’m pleased, however, to trumpet the contest victories of longtime TDOY supporter Dan V. of Fulton, MO and equally longtime TDOY supporter/Facebook comrade/Usenet ally “Brother” Brent McKee, whom you will no doubt recognize from the blogosphere at I Am a Child of Television.  Dan relayed an interesting anecdote via e-mail that the real-life female progeny of Phil and Alice (not the actresses that played them, Jeanine Roos and Anne Whitfield) live just up the road from him (about a two-hour drive) and since he’s been angling for an opportunity to introduce himself he’ll be able to take his newly won Radio Spirits CD set with him as an ice breaker.

While I’m on the subject of Br’er Brent, I want to thank him for the recent shout-out he gave me here at TDOY on his blog—he’s started a feature over at his place entitled “Forgotten TV Shows” that I am truly digging because the vintage stuff is what I like best.  (Plus, it keeps him from running around with that reality show crowd, which I am convinced will be his ruination.)  I wish I had been able to dole out sets to everyone who entered, of course (and from the looks of the entries I got, that wouldn’t have been entirely outside the realm of possibility) but in my book, you’re all winners as far as TDOY is concerned.  Next Monday—another bit of swag to give away, and I have written myself a gi-normous sticky note to remind me not to forget.  Congratulations to the winners, and stay tuned for more fabulous prizes!
